How to switch to Mentbot
- In respond.io, go to Settings > Channel > Facebook Messenger > Comments. Copy your private reply messages and note which posts they track.
- Start a Mentbot free trial and connect the same Facebook Pages.
- Create a Mentbot rule for each message. Choose all posts or specific posts, add keywords if you want them, and paste the text as the Messenger message. Add a public reply too if you like.
- Test with a comment from a personal account, then turn off comment tracking in respond.io. Facebook allows one private reply per comment, so only one tool can send it.
- If your team answers customer chats in respond.io, you can keep using it for that.

Can respond.io reply publicly to Facebook comments?
Its Facebook comment feature, private replies, sends a Messenger message to the person who commented. The help centre does not describe a public reply, a keyword filter or comment hiding, and Workflows have no comment trigger. We checked on 14 September 2026. Mentbot can reply publicly and privately, filter by keyword or hashtag, and hide comments.
Does respond.io have a free plan?
No. It offers a 7-day free trial with Growth plan features for 5 users and 1,000 monthly active contacts, without broadcasts. Mentbot has a 14-day free trial.
How does respond.io count monthly active contacts?
A contact counts if they message or call you, or you start a conversation with them, during the billing month. Starter has unlimited active contacts. Growth and Advanced include 1,000, then charge $12 or $15 per extra 100. A commenter becomes a contact only when they reply to your private message.
Is Mentbot a full replacement for respond.io?
Only for Facebook Page comments. Mentbot does not do WhatsApp, Instagram, broadcasts, AI-generated replies or visual flows. If your team runs customer chat across several channels, respond.io covers more.
