Choose Meta Business Suite if
- You want to pay nothing. It's free and works with the Page you already have.
- A private message when a comment has a set word or hashtag is all you need.
- You get a handful of comments a day and can reply publicly by hand.
- You also answer Instagram and WhatsApp messages and want them in the same Inbox.
Choose Mentbot if
- You want a public reply and a private Messenger message on the same comment.
- You want rules for specific posts, with several reply variants that rotate.
- You want comments liked, one reply per person, or the commenter mentioned automatically.
- You want a Telegram alert when a customer message sits unread.
How to switch to Mentbot
- In Meta Business Suite on desktop, go to Inbox, then Automations, and write down each comment to message automation and its words.
- Start a Mentbot free trial and connect the same Facebook Page. It takes about five minutes.
- Recreate each automation as a rule with the same keywords or hashtag, and choose all posts or specific posts.
- Add a public reply next to the private message, and turn on auto-hide or auto-like if you want them.
- Turn off the matching automation in Meta Business Suite so a commenter doesn't get two messages.
Questions
Can Meta Business Suite auto-reply to Facebook comments for free?
Partly. Its comment to message automation sends the commenter a private message when the comment contains the words you set. It's free, but you set it up on desktop only, and Meta's help pages describe no automation that posts a public reply under the comment.
Why pay for Mentbot if Meta's tool is free?
If one private message is enough, you may not need to. Mentbot starts at $9 a month for 100 comments a day. For that you also get a public reply, rules for specific posts, auto-like, one reply per person and a Telegram alert when a message sits unread.
Does Meta's comment automation work with keywords?
Meta's help pages describe it two ways: one says it replies to comments with specific hashtags, another says keywords or phrases. For keyword automations on messages, Meta says you can use up to 5 keywords, and they must match exactly, including upper and lower case.
Can Meta hide comments automatically?
Yes. In your Page settings you can hide comments that contain words, phrases or emojis you list, and turn on a profanity filter. Mentbot can also hide a comment when one of your rules matches it.
Can I use Meta Business Suite and Mentbot together?
Yes. Keep Meta's Inbox for reading and answering messages. Just don't run a Meta comment to message automation and a Mentbot rule on the same words, or a commenter gets two messages.
